Commissioning
A solid relationship between you, the client, and the designer-craftsman is a key element to the designing and making of an exceptional piece of furniture. One that will be appreciated and enjoyed by many generations.
The design for a piece of commissioned work is arrived at through discussions and an exchange of ideas between Tom and the client, and whenever possible, from visiting the place where the furniture will be situated.
There is normally a separate design fee for this work, agreed at the beginning of the process. No commitment to commissioning the making of the furniture is required until the final design and a quote has been agreed.
With his understanding of materials, hands-on skills and the attention to detail that he can give each piece, Tom is well placed to make one-off furniture to designers and architects specifications. Offering technical advice and the ability to respond to the particular requirements of creative one-off designs.
Due to his attention to detail, both in the designing and making of each piece, the quality of the furniture made by Tom is exceptional. He is involved with all stages of production and keeps in close touch with the client throughout the whole creative process.
